The Nitty Gritty

Location: Royal National Park, Sydney
Distance: 3.25 km – add approx. 1.5 km if you want to view Wedding Cake Rock (N.B.: standing on the rock is now forbidden)
Trail style: One way
Grade: Easy

Easy gradual walk towards the Eastern coastline from Bundeena Drive Car Park. The car park is a small dirt patch on the side of the road, that can fit approximately 10 or so vehicles. Cross the road to find a narrow path that leads towards the east, opening up to Deer Pool. After periods of rain, the trail can be quite muddy and slippery. Continue East and follow the path, eventually taking a left at a fork in the road which will take you north.

Perfect during summer for the cool sea breeze and magnificent blue skies. Take a dip in Marley Beach, but be warned this is not patrolled and has strong currents – strong and experienced ocean swimmers only. This walk can be extended further north towards Bundeena to go and view the wonder that is Wedding Cake Rock. While I do have images of this spectacular piece of nature, the location is now closed off to the public.
