The Nitty Gritty

Location: Morton National Park, Kangaroo Valley
Distance: ~11.25 km (obtained from Map My Walk)
Trail style: Return
Grade: Easy

Highlights of this trail:

  • Views of Shoalhaven River
  • Views of Tallowa Dam
  • Views of Lake Yarrunga

This is a very easy day walk that can be combined with other walks in the nearby Southern Highlands region. See also my post on Belmore Falls.

Getting there

The start of the trail is on Tallowa Dam Road. From Moss Vale Rd, turn into Mount Scanzi Road. This will then turn into Tallowa Dam Rd. From Moss Vale Rd, it’s approximately 20 km to the start of the trail. You will see a gated trail on the left of the road (see below) and a car park across the road.

The trail

The trail itself is very wide and well defined and all three lookouts can be explored in a day walk.

At the beginning of the trail you’ll find map and trail information:

When all three views have been explored, it’s an easy flat return walk back to the car park.
