Vivid Sydney 2012

Besides attending some of the ideas talks for Vivid Sydney, I was also able to attend some of the music nights (Florence and The Machine UK and the Ceremonial Orchestra; LCD Soundsystem – Shut up and play the hits!) and shoot the lights! In its fourth year, the Vivid Festival gave lots of eye candy for photographers to snap and interact with.

It was one of the first times that I used my cheap cable release ($3!) from eBay, and it was actually more fun to take the photos, especially with lots of other photographers and people milling about. I found the use of cable releases to be less intrusive than looking down the eye of the lens, with good peripheral vision of an entire scene that is always changing with people traffic. Here are some of my highlights :

Paula Lay is Sydney born and bred photographer and digital native. As an Arts/Communications graduate, her work has been featured on WordPress.Com and, and she regularly provides her images to be used for promotion while licensed under Creative Commons.
